WHAT THE BABY WANTS & THE NEW PARENTS NEED!

IMG_0149.jpg

When you hit your mid-to-late twenties, something crazy happens: your friends actually start growing up, and get married & have babies! That’s the phase of life that I have recently entered into, and I love it! It’s the most exciting thing seeing your friends start new chapters and welcome little bundles of joy into their families. SO many baby snuggles!

One thing that comes along with all babies: baby showers! And with baby showers, come GIFTS! How the heck are we supposed to know what babies want? Or what new parents really need? Well, I’m here to help you with that with this adorable DIY Newborn Baby Gift Basket! It’s affordable, easy to make, and not to mention so freakin’ cute!

I LOVE giving gift baskets as presents – it’s a pretty, all-wrapped-up-in-one way to give a bunch of thoughtful small gifts. My number one rule when crafting a from scratch gift basket: PICK A THEME! Make sure the colors coordinate. That’s what makes it so creative and thoughtful!

So this time around, I wanted to challenge myself to get really creative. Like realllllllllly creative. So, I decided to say ciao to the ordinary, wicker basket – and have the basket be part of the gift itself. The minute I saw the truck in the toy aisle at Target – my vision started to come to life! Sure, the truck was bigger than the cutie little new born baby, but he’ll grow into it & love playing with it someday, right?!

Think outside of the box when it comes to the basket itself, and the rest is a piece of cake. As you can see, I went with the “construction” theme – and I just loved the way it turned out. I always love to add a little something in for the parents, too – themed coffee mugs & Starbucks gift cards are always a win!

Here’s everything that I put in the basket, along with some other ideas to include!

TIP: Load the bottom of the truck with diapers so everything can be propped up!
