We’ve officially reached the time of year where you can’t go anywhere in public without seeing pumpkin everything! Not to mention pumpkins, themselves – are found outside of practically every store! There are so many fun uses for pumpkins…decor, carving, painting – but have you ever thought to make it part of a flower arrangement?!
I’ve seen this beautiful & creative idea on the internet & Pinterest world for years and thought this year, I would give it a shot! I absolutely loved how it turned out, and I’m almost positive that I’ll be incorporating a pumpkin flower arrangement into my Thanksgiving tablescape this year! It was so easy, and it’s such a fun way to spice up your average fall flower arrangement. Instructions are down below, have fun! xo
What You’ll Need:
- Medium/large sized pumpkin
- Fresh flowers of your choice
- 1 vase or jar small enough to fit inside the pumpkin & fit the flowers
- Carving knife & spoon
What To Do:
- Cut the top off your pumpkin. As far as how large to make the opening, it really depends on the size of your pumpkin & vase. I would say about 2-3 inches out from the step. You can throw out the top afterwards, you won’t be needing it! 🙂
- Clean out the pumpkin. Use a spoon to carve & clean out the pumpkin. Try to get all of the seeds & as much pulp out as you can.
- Place your vase inside the pumpkin. The top/opening of the vase should be flush with the top of the pumpkin, and not sticking out. The goal is to *not* see the vase! You may have to carve the bottom a little deeper, or wiggle the vase in.
- Add water to the face, and arrange your flowers! Change water every few days to keep the flowers fresh. Add a TB of sugar or vodka to the water, to help them last longer.
